Our group investigates new materials synthesized by metal complex assemblies from the viewpoint of coordination chemistry, solid state chemistry, and supramolecular chemistry. We use the anionic four-coordinate/penta-coordinate molecules with cyanides as building units, combined with various metal ions or organic cations for constructing materials. They exhibit interesting dynamic structural characteristics such as thermal expansion, melting, and ion conduction. Moreover, we are also developing molecular probes, that can work in complex environments such as cell membranes, to investigate and promote membrane functions.
