MEET THE DIRECTOR
Lauren Barnhill is proud to be the choral director at Larry A. Ryle High School. Prior to coming to Ryle, Mrs. Barnhill earned numerous accolades as a conductor, including consistent distinguished choral ratings and awards. She has previously served as a teacher at Boone County High School, creative director and conductor for the Northern Kentucky Children's Ensemble, and director and voice teacher for the Anchor Music Academy. During her first year at Ryle, the Concert Choir received unanimous distinguished ratings at KMEA large ensemble assessment. In addition to her role as a choral director, she teaches private voice lessons, and previously an adjunct professor at Thomas More University in the college of education.
In 2020, Mrs. Barnhill was honored to be named High School Teacher of The Year for the Kentucky Music Educators Association. She has served in various leadership roles within the state Music Educators Association, including District 6 choral chair.
Mrs. Barnhill received her Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Kentucky (2008 and 2017), and her National Board Certification in 2021. She is a passionate educator who believes that all students deserve high quality music instruction and opportunities.
She resides in Florence, Kentucky with her husband (Dan) and three children (Jackson, Vera, and Eleanor). In their free time, the family enjoys traveling and camping.
