Fig. 1: The soil pit was done in a section of woods behind the intersection of North Street and Mansfield Ave, near the Lund Family Center.

Both the location of the pit and the horizons can give us a hint as to the history of the soil in this area. The horizons seem fairly undisturbed, and it doesn't appear as if the soil has been overturned or modified recently. The location is near multiple apartments and homes, and is in the middle of a DIY bike park, with trails and jumps etched into the slope. The close proximity to residential building as well as recreational building means there is definitely a chance that the soil has been distrubed in the past, although there is no evidence of this happening recently.
