Frequently Asked Questions

Do you Travel?

Sure do! My main areas are between Byron Bay & South West Rocks. This is a huge area encompassing Scotts Head, Macksville, Nambucca Heads, Valla, Urunga, Sawtell, Coffs Harbour, Bangalow, Woolgoolga, Wooli, Minnie Waters, Brooms Head, Yamba, Evans Head, Ballina, Lismore, Lennox Head.

I'm based in Grafton, NSW so I'm happy to do a gig within that range but outside of that range, I would need to charge extra to allow for accomodation.

Do you have any lights?

Sure do! I use 2 x small moving head LED's to create an atmosphere, 2 x pink coloured down lights to illuminate performers, a 4 piece led bar light with smooth transitions to through some stage lighting.

I'd like to get married on a headland and there is no power, can you still play without power?

Not a problem! I've invested in a deep cycle battery set up which will let me run my PA & play for a few hours.

How do I book?

All I need is the location of your wedding, the date of your wedding and your email address and I can send you a quote. From there you can customise the quote to suit your wedding. Once you are both happy with the quote, you will need to read through my terms & conditions, accept the quote and then pay the booking fee.

What is your most common package?

Typically the 4 hours solo entertainment is the most common package. Bear in mind, when you do book solo, you can choose to have live music or DJ.

For example, 4 x hours of entertainment could consist of 3 hours of live music + 1 hour DJ (5pm-8pm Live music / 8pm-9pm DJ).

Do you take requests?

On the night, if we know the song, we'll play it! I once had a bride request the same song 3 times, she really loved it!

If we know in advance that you'd like a particular song for your first dance, then we can definitely learn it for you and do an interpretation.

Will you play a recording?

If you have taken dance lessons to a particular version of Boyce Avenue cover song and have a routine prepared, I would highly recommend you stick to the recorded version because we never play a song exactly the same as the time before. Yes, we can play songs through the PA for you.

Voice Recordings - This is becoming the new "norm"! if you have someone who can't make it to the day but they would like to do a speech, I can definitely play it through my speaker system. Just send it to me the day before so I can make sure there are no issues with the recording.

Will you play on private property/back yard?

Short answer is yes!

Long answer is yes, pending you can agree to a few conditions.. After doing a number of private property weddings, I have some conditions in place to make sure the event goes smoothly which you will need to read through and agree to before I can take the booking. These are

~ Access to 240v 10amp power (in the event of no access to power, please discuss options for generator).

~ Car access to unload and reload music equipment (if the venue does not allow for a car to drive all the way up to where the musicians are to set up, please discuss options for alternative transport).

~ A suitable hard floor (we will not play in the mud!). We need a suitable hard flooring such as timber, tiles or concrete (if you do not have a reasonable space for musicians to play please discuss options).

~ Shelter - In the event of a sprinkle of rain, we need to pack up to save our equipment/instruments/electrical equipment getting wet. To prevent this from happening, we specify that a shelter is provided by the host.

Do we need to include you in our catering?

For a typical wedding, we'll be working all day, arriving 2 hours earlier to ensure everything runs smoothly, we normally allow an hour and a half to do a full set up and sound check and we like to sound check well before guests arrive so they don't have to listen to us practicing our counting skills "1, 2... ah 1,2.."

Because they are long days, we do request that we are provided a meal, if it's finger food/cocktail service we are happy to go and mingle with the guests or you can arrange for the caterers to make us up a plate if you'd prefer us to stay in the corner, we're fine with that!!

How much do you cost and when do I pay

As for how much, it really depends on how many hours you'd like and what arrangement you'd like to see in the band from solo to four-piece band it can vary quite a lot but our packages usually range from $500 to $2,000 (Clarence Valley area)

Regarding when payment needs to be made, to make the booking, we require a 25% non-refundable deposit which secures the date and then the remaining balance needs to be paid 14 days before the wedding.

Can you MC the wedding?

Heck yeah! I just need a little more information from you regarding who is making speeches etc.

What does the band wear?

After trialling a few different options, we've set the dress code for the band for weddings as all blacks. Long black pants, button up black shirt. We like to keep it simple and that way we don't clash with any colour schemes.

What is your cancellation policy?

Rescheduling

If you have booked a date and paid a deposit for a date, this is non-refundable, non-transferrable. Please be sure when making a booking and paying a deposit that that is the date you want. A deposit paid for the 1st of January secures that date and is not transferable to the 2nd of January. There are only so many dates on the calendar and we book up months in advance.

Cancellation

When a client cancels outside of three months, the booking fee/deposit is taken as compensation for the work which has been done.

When a client cancels a booking within three months of any confirmed date, a fee of 50% of the booked time rate will be charged.

When a client cancels within four weeks of any confirmed date, a fee of 100% of the booked time rate will be charged.
