Expectations

The art room requires a lot from a student. Students will be expected to follow all behavioral and academic expectations in order to create the most engaging and enjoyable learning environment.

Expectations For The Teacher

As the teacher I must set an example for my students. Below are the standards I will hold myself to as an "ARTIST" teacher, so you can hold me accountable as an educator.

Always be professional.

While I will want to relate to my students and make the environment a fun and enjoyable one, I must always remain professional and diligent in drawing the line between a student- teacher relationship and a friendship.

Reach out.

Although I may be the only teacher in the class, I am not alone. I plan to reach out to faculty and administrators for further support or advice as well as reach out to parents to create a united front. I also intend to reach out to my students, so they know I primarily care about their needs and future success.

Think outside of the box.

I have students with different backgrounds, cultures, home life’s, personalities, goals, and abilities. To better help them succeed, I will think creatively about lessons and assignments as well as handling situations or discussions, so I do not get stuck in a pattern and instead focus on what would benefit everyone.

Inspire others.

I will strive to be the best teacher I can be in hopes of not only inspiring my students to pursue what they enjoy, but also to inspire my fellow educators to consistently improve their techniques and dedication.

See the good.

While there may be times that students will have outbursts, disregard expectations, or be completely disrespectful, I must remember to always see the good. I may not know that student’s story, and I must remain understanding.

Take control.

Because I am a soft spoken teacher, students can try to take over the learning space. However, as a teacher I will remind myself to take control of the situation. Students will be expected to meet my standards and put forth their best work.
