Voron is an open source project, if you would like to learn more about it here is a link to their website. There are a couple different models, and I built the V0.1 model. First, I used another 3D printer to make all of the plastic parts. In the picture to the left, you can see all of the vivid colors I was able to use to customize the printer. For the non-plastic parts, I purchased a kit from LDO Motors.Â
All in, building the printer took about a week. I connected every little nut, screw and bolt one by one. I printed 30+ parts over a 2 week period. One of my favorite parts about the printer, is that it runs off a Raspberry Pi. This gave me my first experience with Linux, when I had to SSH into the Pi to configure the printer. The printer runs an operating system called Mainsail, which provides a web interface to allow full control of the printer.
Screen capture of Mainsail, the web interface I use to control my Voron. Mainsail can be accessed by any device on the same Wi-Fi network as the Raspberry Pi.
