My ultimate career goal is to delve into genetic engineering to develop cures for things like cancer, blindness, and rare genetic diseases that will address the source of the issues. I will be headed off to NC State in fall to major in Biochemistry and minor in Biotechnology, both to develop a base for research. Last summer I interned at Precision Biosciences Inc, a cutting edge genome editing company, and cemented my passion for lab work.
At NC State, I want to explore a variety of fields. The beauty of Biochemistry is that is it the mechanism through which so many of the life sciences occur, but can also be applied to the biomedical engineering fields. Currently, I have experience with drug delivery and vector specification, but my interest is easily sparked.
