A fast-paced overview designed to get you comfortable navigating a course from day one. We’ll quickly walk through a typical Week 1 experience—covering announcements, course content, assessments, and grading—so you can see how everything fits together. This is not an in-depth session, just a high-level tour to help you get oriented.
Instructor Essentials: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
A high-level overview of Brightspace covering the course homepage, user profiles, notifications, announcements, classlists, and content. This session introduces the key tools you need to navigate and understand your course environment.
Content: Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM
This session is geared towards users who will be working in the Brightspace and Creating Content.
Including: + Navigating the new environment + Building new content from scratch + Sample HTML pages with embedded media and interactive element +H5P and Creator + (time permitting)
Communicating & Engaging: Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Learn how to use Brightspace’s most commonly used communication tools to connect with students and support engagement. This workshop covers Email, Discussions, and Announcements, with practical tips for communicating clearly and building interaction in your course.
Grades: Friday, August 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Learn how grading works in Brightspace from both the instructor and student perspective. This workshop introduces gradebook setup, categories, assignment grading, Quick Eval, and Class Progress to help you apply Brightspace grading tools in your own courses.
Assessing & Evaluating: Monday, August 10, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Explore Brightspace’s assessment and feedback tools in this workshop focused on assignments, quizzes, and evaluation. Participants will review key features and see how these tools support creating, submitting, and assessing course work.

This one-stop course will let instructors experience Brightspace from a student’s perspective and work through materials at their own pace, whenever it’s convenient.
