Fast & easy to set-up

Disadvantages

Unwanted sounds can be picked up

Best suited for:

Bands, Chinese Orchestra, Choir
Drama performances with many speakers

Shotgun Mics

Best suited for:

Choir
Capturing ambience
Drama performances with many speakers

Advantages

Sounds very far in front of & behind the mic can be detected
Fast & easy to set-up

Disadvantages

Can pick up a lot of unwanted sound from behind and around the mic

Wireless Clip-on Mics

Advantages

Freedom to move around due to lack of wire
Can be hidden under tie/shirt to free up hands
Freedom to move within range of receiver

Disadvantages

Time-consuming to set-up and hide
Limited endurance from battery
Connection can be disrupted by wireless signals

Best Suited for:

Video recordings that require better sound quality. This mic is not as suited for live performances as the receiver signals may be disrupted easily.

Wireless Headset Mics

Can be worn around head/neck to free up hands

Time consuming to set-up and clip onto outfit
