Every year, you will have a Summer Assignment. As a freshmen, you have a Summer Assignment for your English class. If you have it complete and turn it in on the first day of school, you will receive extra credit!

  • 2D Studio Art 1: Freshmen interested in art should start with 2D Studio Art 1 and will have the opportunity to work his or her way up through 2D Studio Art 2 to AP 2D Design, and AP Drawing! If you were to take every AP Studio course offered, you could end up with two free college courses!

  • AP Art History. AP Art History is the only class that is a fine and performing arts credit with a weighted grade and no prerequisite. This class is for those who have an interest in studying art and how it had shaped and been shaped by our world. Some colleges even offer 2 college credits to those students who can get a 5 on the exam!

  • Band - The Riverview Band Program is an intensive and comprehensive educational experience in the musical, marching, and pageantry arts and is comprised of eight award-winning and Superior-rated ensembles: the Blue Coat Regiment Marching Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Riverview Winds Indoor Winds Ensemble, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble. The Band Program also houses the Blue Radiance Color Guard Program, which is comprised of the Blue Radiance Color Guard for the fall marching season and Blue Radiance Varsity and Junior Varsity Winter Guard for the indoor winter guard season.   • Communication Technology. Follow this link to learn about this course. Mr. Sharitz made an awesome flyer explaining what you can expect from this course. There may or may not be a mention of a GAME ROOM!

  • Creative Writing 1. Creative Writing 1 is a program where students learn the basics of writing poetry and short fiction stories, as well as non-fiction (columns) narratives and editorials. Our students are eligible to enter county and national writing contests, and have done very well in past years. It is the beginning class for the program that goes through Creative Writing 5.

  • Journalism 1. Journalism 1 is the beginning class for those students interested in working on either the yearbook or newspaper staff in their next three years. It is taught by the yearbook adviser and the newspaper adviser, so students get the understanding of what is expected of them. This program has seen countless RVHS graduates go on to professional careers.

  • Yearbook. Students who join yearbook work with their classmates to design and create the yearbook. Students must be hardworking, creative, good at working with others, and be able to stick to deadlines. Speaking of Yearbook, Yearbooks are currently on sale now!
