I was born and raised in North Georgia. I attended North Georgia University and studied mathematics with a major in Bachelor's of Science and a minor in Education. After Graduation in 2008, I moved down to Tampa, Florida where I met my wife: a former teacher as well. We married in 2011 and currently have 2 small children, Abaigail and Alexander. I have been teaching in Hillsborough County for the past 12 years, and this is my 4th year as a Shark at Riverview High School. At Riverview, I teach Physical Education classes. I am also the Head Coach for the boys swim program.

I am teaching Biology Honors and Biology Regular this year. I am originally from New Jersey and I've been in FL for 9 years. This will be my 6th year at Riverview and before teaching my background was in microbiology.

I am Ms. Childs and you can find me in room 413 teaching Physical Science and Environmental Science. This is my 5th year as a teacher and, I have taught all five years from here at Riverview. Prior to teaching, I earned my degree in Biomedical Science from USF, then worked in an analysis lab for 8 years. Growing up a Florida girl, I have a love for the beach, the water, and spending time doing outdoor activities. My 6 year old daughter has grown to love it as well, especially any chance she gets to swim!

I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am married to Mr. Pettyjohn, who teaches AP Environmental and Forensics Honors at Riverview High School. We have two children, Pierce and Gwyneth. This is my thirteenth-year teaching in Hillsborough County. This is my third-year teaching at Riverview HS. My favorite part about teaching is interacting with students, so I am very excited to meet you.

Environmental Science

I was born and raised in Tampa and this is my first-year teaching at Riverview! I attended college at FSU and USF obtaining my degrees in Environmental Studies, Oceanography and Environmental Biology. I have a diverse background which includes working in marine labs, corporate finance, eco-tourism and field biology. The coolest position I have had was working for USF-St. Petersburg as a wildlife field biologist working on invasive toads in Australia. I am incredibly excited to start teaching Environmental Science and can’t wait to meet my students!

I am originally from Cocoa Beach, FL and moved to Tampa to attend USF. After finishing my degrees, I was able to stay at USF for a few years to teach science laboratory courses. This will be my first year of teaching Biology and Biology Honors at Riverview High School! My favorite topics in biology are genetics and ecology, and I cannot wait to share these with my students! Hello, my name is Mr. Howe and this will be my 16th year teaching and 9th overall at Riverview. I am a native Floridian and enjoy running, biking, grilling, sports, and playing with my two daughters. My two main interests are human geography and government. Human Geography is one of the best classes to take because it allows us to explore so many different current issues that are impacting us today including population, migration, culture, and urbanization. I look forward to meeting all my students at some point this year, and hope you enjoy your freshman year at Riverview.

I am also the Sponsor for the Student2Student Club. The club is to help students feel welcome, especially new students coming into our great school. Hi! My name is Mrs. Lutz. I will be teaching 9th Grade English. Although this is my first year teaching at Riverview High School, it is my 17th year teaching. I taught in Chicago Public Schools for 14 years before I moved to Tampa with my family. I have 3 kids! This year, one will be in second grade, one will be in kindergarten and one is still in daycare! My husband and I love taking our kids to explore the Tampa Bay area and beyond!

I am looking forward to meeting you all this year and getting to know you all! I love teaching, and I love working with young adults. I am looking forward to a great year together!

Hi! My name is Mr. Marshall, and this is my 17th year teaching English. I am so happy to introduce you to Riverview High School as well as To Kill A Mockingbird and Romeo and Juliet. I was raised outside of Boston (Go Red Sox!) and spent 13 years teaching in Brooklyn, New York before moving to Florida with my wife and 3 little kids. Over the course of the last 15 years, 4 of which have been at Riverview High School, I have taught Career & Technical Education. I love working with students to help them become ready for success in the real world. Last year, I began working as the Student Success Coach where I get to work directly with students who need help being successful.

This will be my 14th year as a HS teacher. For the last eight years, I have been a Shark here at RvHS. I absolutely love being part of the Shark Family and I am SO pumped to teach 9th grade Environmental Science. I have taught freshman since my first day at this school, and I am very willing to help you make the transition to high school with as few growing pains as possible.

Born and raised in Chicago, we moved here for the Sub Trop life in 2011. No intention of going back to the snow and ice. I love this climate and we can talk about the beach anytime. I live in Tampa, but make the drive to Riverview because this school is worth it.

My name is Mr. Sharitz. I have been teaching at Riverview since 1999. I teach an elective class called Communication Technology.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my Family. My wife and two children (Conner (12 years old) and Katie (10 years old)). I also enjoy construction, graphic design, editing vinyl graphics and video games. One of my biggest hobbies is raising Japanese Koi. I have four ponds at my house.

I have been teaching Geometry at Riverview HS for the past ten years. Besides helping students achieve and exceed their academic goals, I am passionate about the nature of motivation and emotional regulation in the school setting as well as in personal life. Curiosity in these topics drove me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Applied Learning and Instruction (UCF) with an emphasis on motivational theory and its application.
