Welcome to my homepage!

I am a senior postdoctoral fellow at KULeuven. I was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles. I am also a scientific collaborator at the Université Libre de Bruxelles where I completed my PhD in 2019.

My main scientific interests reside in epigenetics and how chromatin structure shapes the complex network of genetic information.

I have been addressing this vast topic since my master thesis where I studied the role of DNA methylation in the regulation of HIV-1 latent infections. At the beginning of my PhD, I started working on enhancer-mediated control of HIV-1 in myeloid reservoirs, which opened a new world of transcriptomics and cell-specific control of gene expression. In 2020 and with the support of the Belgian American Educational Foundation, I moved to Los Angeles to work in toxico-epigenomics. This has further expanded my horizons and expertise. In particular, I started working on the interplay between epigenetics and metabolism in stem cells. Since 2023, I am back in Belgium where I apply my expertise to tumour hypoxia
