As you all know, my name is Kyler Rutz, or better known as Mr. Rutz. I teach 4th/5th grade in Dixon, P.E. for Kindergarten through 4th grade, and I also coach middle school cross-country! I coach other sports in the community such as t-ball and soccer, and during the summer months I am a wildland firefighter.
As a teacher, I believe building relationships with students is the first step. I want my students to trust me and know that I care about their success, which is why I get so involved. I'm happy to help my students outside of school, just as much as in the classroom. I also enjoy using new educational tools and technologies in the class that let my students explore their creativity and let them see the world from different perspectives. This has been shown through our 'Skype-A-Scientist' sessions, using 3-D printing pens to create our own artwork/structures, playing games of 'Mystery Skype' with other classrooms around the country, and using VR (virtual reality) devices to travel around the world. Ask your students about some of their experiences with these awesome activities!
More personal, I grew up near Seattle, WA, before moving to Ronan in 2002. I graduated from Ronan High School in 2010 and continued my education at Salish Kootenai College, where I earned an AA in psychology and a BS in elementary education. My wonderful partner Katelyn and I have three amazing children; Kamden (6), Tayden (4), and Reegan (2). Katelyn is also an educator and a wonderful mother and support system for our little family. I enjoy spending time with these guys more than anything, which is hard when we are always so busy. Below are some pictures of my family and I doing whatever we do..enjoy!
Now, I want you to tell me more about YOU!
