We are the Rutgers chapter of Toastmasters International, a public speaking and leadership club. Here, you will find helpful resources related to our club, as well as general Toastmasters information.
We are currently meeting every week, alternating between in-person and online! If you're interested in joining us, please email us at ru.toastmasters@gmail.com and we'll give you more info!
We will be emailing out the link for the virtual meetings beforehand, and the role sign up is here on the site.
Members choose a topic and prepare a speech based on their Pathways program (for new members, this speech is an icebreaker), or the member chooses a topic on the spot. The audience then submits a brief comment card to give the speaker feedback.
All members are encouraged to participate in these short and informal speeches. The Table Topics Master chooses the topic, and each member speaks for 1-2 minutes about the topic. This part of the meeting is especially helpful in improving impromptu speaking skills.
During the full-length speeches and table topics portions, certain members keep track of how long a person spoke, how many filler words they used, and how well they did based on a Toastmasters rubric. These members present their reports at the end of the meeting.
