Title: Administrative Intern
The Department of Medicine has got ten divisions for internal medicine.
Primary responsibilities and Project: During this internship, I was able to work on the fellowship recruitment project. I reached out to different Program directors and coordinators during this project. I had a chance to ask them different questions about the recruitment process in their division.
Learning Objectives: My learning objectives consisted of; Shadowing different people in different positions to get information, working independently on different assignments, improving communication.
Personal Development: Interning at the Department of Medicine allowed me to develop and obtain skills that can be used throughout my career. Not only did I gain more problem-solving skills, but I was able to develop and convey various types of information. I gained more self-management skills, improved communication, and learned how to work with different professional people.
Academic Connections: All the courses I have taken have helped me prepare myself for this internship. For example, the ethics course helped to know what one should do and not do in the work environment. Working on different projects and having deadlines has helped learn how to manage my time and prioritize things I have to do.
