Call for Proposals

CFP Deadline: December 15, 2019, 11:59 PM EST

The Rutgers University Musicological Society (RUMS) invites submissions from graduate students in musicology, ethnomusicology, music theory, composition, and other disciplines whose research engages music for our sixth annual Graduate Student Music Conference. Submissions may include abstracts and proposals for paper presentations and lecture-recitals on topics broadly relating to music. Papers and presentations co-authored by graduate students will also be considered.

Presentations are limited to 20 minutes, followed by a discussion period of 10 minutes; lecture-recitals may request a double-length segment (approximately 45 minutes of presentation time). Abstracts should be no more than 250 words in length, and should not include the author’s name or any other identifying information. A one-page supplementary example, such as a recital program, chart, graph, or table, may be included with the abstract. Deadline for submitting proposals  is December 15, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Please submit your proposal as a Word document or PDF file as an attachment in an email to rutgersmusicologicalsociety@gmail.com. In the body of the email, include your name, institutional affiliation, degree program, email address, and a list of required equipment for the proposed presentation (piano, projector, audio, etc.). We will have A/V resources and a laptop available for presentations, as well as access to a modern piano and several historical keyboard instruments.
