Three strange men, who were trespassing on our property on 1/30/2020, appear to have started the fire that burned our cabin to the ground. The age range among the men suggests that they may be related and are members of different generations of the same family. These individuals are likely the same perpetrators of the burglary, vandalism and sabotage of our cabin in 2018.
Watch the three suspects' actions before the fire broke out.
The primary suspect is John Hurricane Skallerud. John responded to an ad I posted on Craigslist.org for assistance with developing the property. All of my tools and other supplies were destroyed in the first fire so I needed someone with tools to help me complete necessary tasks. John moved a hauling trailer full of his belongings onto my property and parked it there, then he returned to Oregon to complete a job he was working. John left his trailer on my property for more than a year, occasionally saying that he was ready to come out to the property, but then I wouldn't hear from him again for a few months. When John finally arrived (in June or July of 2020), it was clear that John only came because he had nowhere else to go. John had no money and no food so I had to buy him food so he could survive. John also didn't have a way to charge his cell phone so I let him borrow a solar charger, that John never returned. After John arrived, it was clear that he had lied about his knowledge and experience. John was not able to help me with any of the tasks I needed to complete on the property. I was able to find a job that John and I could work on together. We made enough money that John was able to haul his trailer away and leave the area. When I realized that he had never returned my solar charger, I texted him about it. John ignored my texts so I called him out for being a thief. He then got very strange and irrational. He made a bizarre threat, saying that I was going to find myself "in a world of disappointment..." The second fire on our property broke out a few days later.
