When I look at my personal bests, I recall all the hard work I put into these races to get the time that I did. My only competition IS myself. The race for which I pushed myself the hardest is the JC 5K, giving it all I've got. It's not to say that the other races aren't without much effort. I had a great marathon because of everything I learned in training was put into practice. The timestamps isn't all that matters to me. It is feeling great and finishing strong that makes a great race. It is running without ailments (despite getting calf cramps in the late miles at Ted Corbitt and St Pete's HM--- somehow these two races were teaching me that I needed to fuel better).Â
