New characters will start at level one. The game will use the point-buy system for ability score selection. Feats are allowed. Multiclassing is not allowed. Homebrew is not allowed. Here is a list of current players.
Point-buy functions by using 27 points which you use to purchase your starting stats. Using this method, 15 is the highest ability score you can end up with, before applying racial increases. You can't have a score lower than 8. Here is a Point-buy calculator.
Anything inside the PHB is acceptable barring the Lucky feat due to the Inspiration House Rules.
Anything beyond the PHB released by WotC including UA can be used with discussion. It's more than likely I will allow the use of options in Volo's or Xanathar's.
Acquisitions Incorporated is disallowed. Guildmasters' Guid to Ravnica is disallowed.
Choose starting equipment, no rolling for gold. You may roll for health each level or take the median. You are stuck with what you roll, so beware.
Tortles, Aarakocra, Kobolds, Full-Orcs and Lizardfolk have been unlocked for player use due to in-game diplomacy. Please run your concept past a DM before moving forward with a character of this race.
Kenku, Warforged, Minotaur, Goblin, Hobgoblin and Bugbear are currently locked for player use. They may become open at a later date with diplomacy or discovery.
Satyrs, Loxodons, Shifters, and Eberron "marked" variant races are currently locked for player use. They will not become open at a later date.
The Artificer Class is currently locked for player use. It may become open at a later date.
Responsibilities:
The life-blood of a West Marches game is a large community and player-driven goals and Write-Ups. Players publicly discussing the events of a session, crafting their own world map, and making a record of the events is essential for the game to continue. Scheduling games between each other and crafting plans outside and between sessions is vital. You can see fellow player's write ups here.
When considering the personality and history of your character it is encouraged to remember that the adventures of their lives are ahead of them, not behind them. Seeding their backstory with knowledge of secrets or treasure in Runesbane will help the game come alive. For example, an Inheritor (Sword Coast Adventure Guide background) may have inherited a plot of land in Runesbane from a distant ancestor. Reclaiming the territory and developing it would become their goal. Or, a Hermit's discovery may have been a stash of secret treasure in the lost city of Chirra-Khorre, or a relic that would help unlock the depths of the sunken city.
Being in a West Marches requires a proactive player, you need to work with others to schedule games. Coming up with ideas for sorties is within your power: if you want to go an do something you need only to ask a DM and gather players to set a date and time.
