Dwarven Ranger / Rogue

Astimar was a primary suspect when Chopper was killing folk, partly because he was skilled in handaxes (often had throwing contests at the Hagfish) and also because he was a bit dour, an outsider, and aloof. It didn’t help that he had spurned the Sczarni and the Scarnetti family both (they wanted his roguish skills), and they had fed the rumors. Astimar offered to help kill Chopper but he was turned away by Sherrif Casp Avertin (who later fell to Chopper). He left Sandpoint halfway through Chopper’s reign of terror, disillusioned by what he saw as the subtle racism and suspicion of the locals. He sought his own personal quest and is only now returning after 5 years, eager to see his old friend, Magnus, who's written to him occasionally and says Sandpoint has changed for the better. Arrives the day before the festival.

Thoughts on Other PCs:

BD-09: Yeah that's the walking golem at the academy right? Strange magics to mix plant, animal and mineral. What other purposes does he serve? What was its original function?
Flamethistle: Who?
Lothiriel: Lovely elf with strange eyes and a honeyed voice. Magnus can't get enough of her shows and they are both the tree hugging sort. Didn't think I would see elf and dwarf all friendly like that.
Magnus: Good long-time friend for decades. He's a bit peculiar, but I'd bleed for him and know he would do the same. He prefers the sun and wind to the security of stone above his head, but we can't all be perfect, right? Magnus lost his sailor mentor to Chopper and it hit him hard. I didn't know, as he died a day or so after I left. Still feel pretty bad about that.
Muk: Met him at the Hagfish the night I got back into town. I asked Jargie Quinn (good friend), who spoke highly of Muk. Well, if Quinn vouches for him, I guess he's alright. I'm an open-minded guy.
