32nd Annual Whitehall Dan Reid Invitational – Aug. 26, 2017
Our Lady Warhawk cross country team took home the Whitehall Invitational championship trophy winning the 5 team meet with a very low score of 22 points, 30 points better than runner-up Big Walnut. Led by individual winner, McKenna Fry breaking her former meet record of 18:58, our Hawks placed 5 runners in the top 10. Followed by Fry, was Sydney Kapral (3rd), Chloe Ey (4th), Ashley Hockstok (6th) and Mya Delaney (8th) overall.
Hot Summer Bash (Top 7) – Hilliard Davidson – Sept. 2, 2017
Our top 7 varsity runners had the opportunity to experience a not-so-Hot Summer Bash XC Meet at Hilliard Davidson. The Warhawk Ladies finished 5th out of 9 competitors. McKenna Fry lead the lady flock with a 4th place overall finish time of 18:34. The team was followed by Sydney Kapral, Chloe Ey, Ashley Hockstock, Mya Delaney, Kayla Jones, and Remi Schultz. Following the race was a team potluck and t-shirt exchange that allowed for the cooler weather to be a little more enjoyable.
Westerville North Cross Country Classic (JV team) – Sept. 2, 2017
With the top 7 of our Warhawk runners at Hilliard Davidson, the next 8-14 runners had the opportunity to run the varsity race at the North XC Classic. Though the strongest runners weren’t there for the meet, the varsity race managed to come 11th out of 13 teams and the open was 10th out of 14 teams. Ellie Mallon lead the varsity race with 23:34, only being 7 seconds short of a season PR. The team was followed by Caroline Cable, Olivia Loesch, and Andi Zimmerer for the top 4 runners. The open race was lead by freshmen Hannah Thomas with a season PR of 25:51. Following Warhawk runners were Jennifer Ayarkwa, Allyson Okonak, and Chloe Michaels.
McGowan Invitational – Watkins Memorial – Sept. 9, 2017
The Warhawk varsity ladies finished 4th out of 29 teams in the very competive McGowan Invitational. McKenna Fry led the team with her 4th place finish at 18:21. Sydney Kapral, Chloe Ey, Ashley Hockstok and Mya Delaney rounded out the top 5 in scoring 149 points. The team also had a Reserve Team race for runners 8-14 and a Reserve Open race for the rest of our Warhawks. The Reserve team finished 13th out of 19 and the Reserve race was 18th out of 21.
Otterbein Invitational – Otterbein College XC Course – Sept. 16, 2017
On what is known to be our “home course,” the Otterbein Invitational is always an exciting time of the XC season. For the 3rd consecutive year, our Warhawk ladies have been champions of this meet. Our very own McKenna Fry was the first finisher of this meet with a time of 19:13. Following her was Chloe Ey, Sydney Kapral, Ashley Hockstock, and Mya Delaney. For the first time of the season, all of our Warhawk runners that ran were all under 30 minutes!
Saturday Night Lights (top 7) – Centerville High School – Sept. 23, 2017
One of the most exciting meets of the season for our varsity hawks is the Saturday Night Lights at Centerville High School. The flock was lead out by McKenna Fry, coming in at 18:10, and a 8th place finish in the Varsity race. Next came Sydney Kapral, running 19:49. The rest of our team was followed by Chloe Ey (19:52), Ashley Hockstock (20:53), Mya Delaney (21:16), Remi Schultz (21:49), and Ellie Mallon (23:53). Our overall team placement as 15th out of 25 was something to be sufficient with, but required our varsity to try to develop stronger packs when dealing with some of the toughest competition in the state of Ohio!
Bob Reall Invitational – Lancaster High School – Sept. 23, 2017
While our top 7 were at Centerville, our JV hawks flew to Lancaster for the Bob Reall Invitational. Our first finisher was Kayla Jones, coming in at 23:36. She was followed by Grace Stille (23:38), Kennedy Callow (24:08), Jennifer Ayarkwa (25:58), Lauryn Chapman (26:13), Caroline Cable (27:27), and Olivia Loesch (27:33). The remainder of our team ran in the open race, leading out with Sarah Giffin (26:19), Nia Themalaris (26:54), Ally Okonak (27:27), Emma George (28:31), Chloe Michaels (28:33), Mallory Boring (30:26), Sydney Livermore (31:45), and Emily Smith (33:05).
Les Eisenhart Invitational – October 7, 2017
On the day of Homecoming, the girls ran very well on the oddly hot October day. In the Varsity race, Sydney Kapral finished first for our team with McKenna out. She ran 19:50. Following her was Chloe Ey (20:13), Ashley Hockstock (20:49), Mya Delaney (21:14), Ellie Mallon (22:45), and Remi Schultz (24:27). In the Freshmen/Sophmore Open, our top 3 girls were Kayla Jones (23:30), Lauryn Chapman (24:42), and Caroline Cable (26:05). In the Junior/Senior Open, our top 3 girls were Grace Stille (22:57), Andi Zimmerer (23:58), and Jennifer Ayarkwa (24:19). Our girls were sure eager to PR!
OHSAA OCC Buckeye Division – October 14, 2017
As a special tradition, Coach Borland provides the top 10 girls on our team with special varsity jerseys for the OCC meet! This varsity flock included: McKenna Fry (19:21), Sydney Kapral (19:27), Chloe Ey (20:22), Mya Delaney (21:50), Ashley Hockstock (22:56), Kayla Jones (23:00), Ellie Mallon (23:01), Grace Stille (23:08), Remi Schultz (23:58), and Caroline Cable (25:36).
