Statement of Purpose
The establishment of a Moot Court organization at face value would provide students from all different backgrounds the opportunity to explore Constitutional Law and appellate advocacy. Students would attain so much more than understanding the legal system in the United States. In fact, students would learn the ability to advance their analytical, research, public speaking and writing skills. This organization would not only improve their skills, which are applicable in any field, but also foster a community of driven and passionate individuals from all different backgrounds. What will make this organization inherently different from any other organization on campus is for the simple fact we are not looking for one particular candidate. We do not just want students interested in pursuing a career in law or politics. In this organization there would be a strong concentration on oral advocacy skills and it would require participants to use legal principles and constitutional knowledge to develop sound arguments. In this unique format, will we help foster increased civic awareness. In America's political discourse today it is incumbent on universities and institutions of higher learning to develop students who will take a more active role in our governmental and legal communities to effect positive change. Yet, the most important thing to note is that the core of this organization is to empower others, to help them realize they have a voice and that they can learn how to use it effectively to speak for themselves and others.
Our organization is part of the American Moot Court Association of America. We as an organization plan to organize scrimmages with other collegiate Moot Court organizations as well as planning our very own high school invitational tournament.
