I am in the final stages of my Ph.D. program at Edtech IIT Bombay (SMILE Lab) under Prof. Ramkumar Rajendran and Prof. Sahana Murthy. Through my research, I have gained experience in working with and analyzing educational data, specifically focusing on interaction data from various computer-based tools such as web-based learning environments, mobile applications, and emerging technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
For my Ph.D. thesis, I have been investigating the log data of learners as they tackle complex engineering problems within a web-based learning environment called MEttLE, specifically designed to support novice estimation learning. My main interest lies in automatically identifying metacognitive processes that play a crucial role in learning, such as learners setting meaningful subgoals, implementing effective strategies to execute tasks, and monitoring their emerging understanding. What sets my work apart in this field is that I have validated my findings by analyzing concurrent think-aloud data collected on a synchronized timeline. This approach strengthens the credibility of my results. To detect metacognitive processes, I have developed both rule-based and machine-learning models. Additionally, I have contributed to the theory of metacognition by examining the impact of different processes on learning within complex problem-solving environments.
My research work, combined with my involvement in extracurricular activities, have equipped me with valuable practical experience in project-based work. I thrive in collaborative environments and am particularly motivated by socially relevant challenges and dedicated to empowering educators and educational stakeholders through a visible and persistent learning process. But let me reveal a delightful secret—I have an uncanny knack for uncluttering and organizing spaces, creating a sanctuary of peace and productivity. And there's nothing more invigorating than the company of those who ignite my intellectual curiosity, inspiring me to become a better version of myself.
If you are interested in knowing more about my research, let's meet over a cup of coffee ☕ —a bribe I simply can't resist!
