Carolina, a first-generation international student from Madrid, Spain, is the current SGA President, majoring in Neuroscience and Finance.
With three years in SGA, she is dedicated to representing ALL students, regardless of background or origin.
As a University Innovation Fellow at Stanford and an active leader in the Academic Senate, Honors Council, and professional RSOs, she works to promote inclusivity and campus collaboration. Running for re-election, Carolina aims to strengthen SGA as a resource for all students and continue making a lasting impact.
Aashka, an international student from India studying Biological Sciences, has been deeply involved at CMU. She serves as an RA is Kessler Hall, Cultural Coordinator for the Indian Students Association, as a Teaching Assistant, and participates in various RSOs.
As SGA Vice President, Aashka has successfully overseen internal operations, ensuring the smooth and fair implementation of policies for the benefit of all students. She is running again to continue her work in fostering a more inclusive and effective student government at CMU.
Pratham, an international student from India, is majoring in Computer Science and Data Science with a minor in Psychology. He currently serves as the Governmental Affairs Committee Chair in SGA, where he works to promote awareness about government systems and ensure students stay informed through SGA initiatives. Pratham is also active in cultural RSOs like the Indian Student Association and Chamakta Central.
Now running for Treasurer, he aims to bring greater financial transparency, accountability, and clarity to SGA's budgeting process. With his analytical background and leadership experience, Pratham is committed to ensuring student funds are used effectively and communicated clearly. His goal is to build trust, make financial decisions more accessible to students, and support initiatives that genuinely benefit the campus community.
Suhani Bam Thakuri, a Biomedical Science freshman at CMU, is a passionate advocate and leader from Nepal. She serves as President of the Nepali Student Association and Financial Secretary for the International Student Organization. Actively involved in Alzheimer’s research and microbiology lab work, she is committed to student empowerment and resource awareness. As a senator, she aims to enhance student engagement, advocate for their needs, and promote sustainable innovation through a platform encouraging greener technologies and creative problem-solving.
Hisham Danoun is a freshman at Central Michigan University, studying Biology on the pre-med track. Since arriving at CMU, he has embraced the strong sense of community and seized opportunities to get involved. Hisham serves as a First-Year Class Advocate on the Health Professions Residential College board and is an active member of the CMU Soccer Club, as well as the Arab Student Organization and International Student Organization, connecting with diverse cultures.
Hisham is running for a senator position in the Student Government Association (SGA) because he understands the crucial role that Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) play at CMU. He aims to advocate for RSOs, ensuring they receive the resources, funding, and recognition they deserve. His goal is to bridge the gap between student organizations and university administration, helping smaller RSOs thrive and enhance the college experience for all students.
