Each concept reflects our unwavering commitment to progress and our promise to turn visionary ideas into real-world solutions that benefit everyone.
Many universities across the country have already recognized the importance of providing free access to feminine hygiene products as a fundamental aspect of student well-being and gender equity. To ensure that our institution remains at the forefront of inclusivity and student support, the Feminine Hygiene Products Initiative seeks to implement a sustainable and accessible solution that aligns with the standards set by peer institutions.
This initiative will begin by supplying free period products in all academic buildings, with the goal of expanding access to every restroom on campus. By doing so, the university will eliminate a preventable barrier to student success and demonstrate its commitment to creating an equitable learning environment. Ensuring reliable access to these essential products will reduce stress, prevent class disruptions, and promote dignity for all students who menstruate.
To facilitate this initiative, the university will partner with Aunt Flow, a trusted supplier known for its commitment to sustainable and high-quality period products. Many leading institutions have already implemented similar programs with great success, and by following this proven model, the university can ensure efficiency, sustainability, and long-term impact.
Many students struggle to access accommodations due to unclear information. We will work with Student Disability Services to create a simple guide and ensure it is widely available to help students navigate the process easily.
Create a clear, step-by-step guide on accommodations and student rights
Distribute it at orientation, advising offices, residence halls, and online
Encourage faculty to include accommodation info in syllabi and promote awareness campaigns
Many students struggle to find meals due to limited dining hall hours, especially those with late classes or work schedules. We will push for extended hours to ensure all students have access to campus dining when they need it.
Advocate for later closing times to accommodate student schedules
Work with dining services to pilot extended hours in high-traffic locations
Gather student feedback to determine the best meal availability times
Students studying late or attending night events often struggle with safe and reliable transportation. We will work with campus safety to expand shuttle services, ensuring students have access to secure and convenient transit options.
Extend shuttle hours to accommodate late-night campus activities
Add more stops near popular study and event locations
Collaborate with campus safety to enhance security for nighttime travel
Merrill Dining Hall is the only late-night dining option on campus, but it currently offers very limited healthy choices. We will push for a wider variety of nutritious meals, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and balanced options, so students can make healthier choices even during late-night hours.
Advocate for a wider range of healthy meal options, including fresh produce and balanced entrees
Work with dining services to ensure healthier items are available for late-night dining
Introduce a clear labeling system to highlight healthy choices on the menu
Many students are unaware of the latest SGA initiatives, policy changes, or upcoming events. We will launch a weekly newsletter to keep students informed and engaged with what’s happening on campus, making it easy to stay up-to-date with SGA’s efforts and student resources.
Provide weekly updates on policy changes, upcoming events, and SGA initiatives
Highlight student success stories, important campus resources, and involvement opportunities
Ensure the newsletter is accessible via email, the SGA website, and social media platforms
