Salud a Guatemala

Support member, Shane McAdams, has been touring stations and shadowing the Captain of EMS to better learn the structure of Emergency Medicine in Guatemala! He also has the opportunity to provide vaccinations to pediatrics, primary care to mothers and babies, and assist with sutures and primary wound care! (2020)

A Tropical Winter Break

Active Member, Trisha Le, spent a week in Punta Cana, DR opening daily clinics with RU Nursing and VCOM Auburn Medical students. They provided family practice, pediatric and obstetric care to local villages!

“I was able to do a lot of Spanish translating and communicating with patients with my Spanish education background. This health care is what many of the people here look forward to. A lot of them needed it and honestly it was one of the most amazing experiences!” (Le, 2020)

COVID-19 vaccine clinic: Roanoke Rescue mIssion

One of our Active Members, Ella O'Keefe, administered vaccines to the homeless population in Roanoke through the Rescue Mission. She was one of the first Radford University Nursing students to be authorized to administer COVID-19 vaccines in Roanoke, VA amid the pandemic.

"Community and Public Health services are massively growing specialties, especially during the current pandemic! Having the opportunity to bring this service to the underserved population was both an exciting and humbling experience." (O'Keefe, 2021)
