Here are a few tips on how to maintain your gas range and help extend the life of it.
Keep your stove top clean!
Many times I get a service call with the customer complaint that the burners wont ignite. It's sparking and you can hear/smell the gas but it won't light. Almost 80% percent of the time its due to poor or no maintenance on the unit. The Burners must be pretty much spotless to work efficiently. The way they work is that the spark comes and hits the burner, if the burner is dirty, it will never ground meaning it will never ignite. The burners come off completely. They consist of a thin lid and then the base with he holes on it for the flame. Just be sure to pay close attention to the orientation of the burner as you remove it so that you can fit it back on. Do one at a time if that helps.
Some cleaning solutions that you may use are:
Oven cleaner, place all of the objects to be cleaned into a container or the sink and spray them all down. Leave them soaking for a few hours and then go back to scrub them off.
Baking soda and white vinegar. Use this by creating a pasty solution made up of Baking soda and water. Only enough water to make it pasty looking. Use a brush or sponge to spread the paste onto the objects and let them soak for a few hours. Spray white vinegar and scrub them off.
If you've completely cleaned your stove top and still aren't getting it to ignite, then call a professional to take a look at it.
