I work with each individual client and tailor my therapeutic approach according to clients' needs and wants. As I integrate Person-centered Therapy and Solution-focused Therapy, I cater to clients who want/need short term (usually between 3 and 6 sessions) therapy, and clients who have the funding and time to allow for a longer term approach where we can work with more issues and go to a deeper level of therapy.
My foundation is rooted in Person-centered therapy. This means that although I manage the process, the sessions client-directed. I trust that every client has an inherent wisdom of what they need for self-actualisation and wellbeing. I foster this by offering the core conditions of empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. If needed/wanted by the client I have a variety of anxiety/depression techniques and resources that I often integrate.
Supporting clients with connection and meaning in their life are key aspects of my counselling. Through empathic relational connection, I support my clients to strengthen their connection with themselves and others.
Counselling sessions with me involve developing:
self-awareness,
ability to be fully present,
identify and change unhelpful patterns of relating with yourself, your environment and others.
growth in self-worth.
I have a special interest and experience with cultural and neuro-diversity, trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain/illness, and the impact of family separation and parental abandonment.
