I am an economic historian with a particular interest in the development of credit markets and the people or firms using them.
Currently, I am working as an FWO Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Antwerp on a project titled "The Financial Inclusion of Migrants".
Before that, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the project "The Social History of Finance", specifically focusing on the development of notarial credit markets in the broader Antwerp region between 1835 and 1900.
Other research projects include 1930s credit crunch, historical SME guarantee funds and savings banks in Belgium and the Netherlands 1860-1940.
"A series of (un)fortunate events: Commercial bank interest rates and deposit reallocation during the Great Depression in the Netherlands", co-authored with Amaury de Vicq (RUGroningen), has been accepted for publication in the Economic History Review.
"Looking for Dark Matter Credit: Exploring Notarial Credit Markets in Antwerp and Its Surroundings ca. 1835", co-authored with Rogier van Kooten has been published.
