Participants will be assigned to a cabin at camp. Cabins will be arranged by grade. Male and female cabins will be separate. Adult supervision will be provided in cabins.
Cabins have bunk beds and sleep approximately 16 people. Bath houses and toilets are located just outside of the cabins.
Once registration closes in August, we will be sending out request forms where you can request a cabin-mate as well as sign up for your workshops and electives.
Photo below is an example of one of the cabins during a summer session at camp. Bedding will NOT be provided.
Yes, there will be adult supervision. Youth Directors from each participating synagogue will be attending and staffing the retreat along with several Phoenix-area clergy. Additional staff (college aged and older) will be hired to supervise the cabins at night. Staff & clergy will be running leadership workshops and programming throughout the weekend.
Our congregations are proud of our teens and we hold our teens to the highest standards. When you participate in Jewish-Sponsored programming, you act as representatives of your synagogues in our greater community. We will promote the creation of a religious youth community based on mutual respect and a sense of personal responsibility. We will treat others with kavod (honor and respect) in order to facilitate the feeling of shalom bayit (peace in our home) and create a sense of welcoming in our community.
We ask our teens to follow this B'rit K’hilah (the rules of our community) any time they are involved in Jewish events or are representing their congregation in community programs.
Our community is incomplete without you being fully present...
I will attend and participate fully in the entire event/class/program, unless otherwise agreed upon with the adult staff.
I will arrive on time, stay until the end, and remain on the event/class/program premises at all times.
During overnight events, I will abide by event curfews announced by leadership. At the time of the announced curfew I will go directly to my assigned sleeping space and remain there until the next session/class/program.
As a means of respect for the well-being of the community and myself...
I will promote the creation of a religious youth community based on mutual respect and a sense of personal well-being.
I will treat others with Kavod (honor and respect) because we are created B’tzelem Elohim (in the image of God).
I agree to exercise proper consent, and I agree to refrain from inappropriate sexual behavior.
I understand that consent is only given when someone gives positive and verbal permission to a sexual activity with another person, and that all people in a sexual situation must feel comfortable saying an explicit “yes” or “no” of their own free will to stop the physical activity at any point. In order to maintain our kehilah kedosha, it is essential that I uphold consent at Temple sponsored teen programming AND in my daily life. Consent is a form of respect, and I will continue to show respect for my peers.
As Camp is a safe and inclusive space for all participants…
I will not participate in activities before, during, or after events that could be deemed as hazing, sexually harassing, discriminatory, demeaning, hurtful, or bullying. This includes in-person interactions during events/class/programs, interactions over cell phone and email, during zoom calls or video chats, and actions in online spaces including social media during and between events
In order to ensure the wellbeing of myself and my peers, I understand that no guests are allowed at any event, unless the Director of Youth or Rabbi gives permission in advance, and that any unauthorized guests will be asked to leave immediately.
I also agree not to photograph or make video recordings of anyone without their express permission, and not to take any photographs in inappropriate places, such as restrooms and sleeping areas. If I post or distribute any pictures/media, they will represent their congregation, the staff, and other participants in a positive and wholesome manner. Anything I post will represent the Jewish values our congregational community teaches and upholds.
To promote a healthy and safe environment within our Jewish Community...
I will not possess, consume, or distribute alcoholic beverages, other than that served by adult leadership for Jewish sacramental purposes, even if I am of legal drinking age.
I will not smoke, consume, or distribute tobacco products, including e-cigarettes/vapes, at any time during the event. I will not possess, use, or distribute any illegal drug or drug paraphernalia, including marijuana regardless of the legality in the hosting state.
I will not bring or use any weapons, firearms, or anything that may be construed as a weapon.
I will not commit any illegal act. I understand that vandalism, disturbing the peace, or other inappropriate behavior as determined by the adult leadership will not be tolerated. I understand that I will have to pay for any damage that I cause.
I understand that no gambling is allowed, except for fundraisers or programs approved by the adult leadership.
Neither our affiliated synagogues/teen programs, nor its adult representatives, may be held responsible for any damages or injuries sustained by persons or property, directly resulting from improper conduct.
I agree to abide by any additional rules, pertinent to a specific event, which may be announced, and to accept the consequences of their violation.
Any infraction or violation of the Teen Code of Conduct may result in removal of a member/participant at the sole discretion of the Adult Leadership at the expense of parent/guardian.
I understand that elements of this brit apply from the time I leave home for the event/class, program, during the event itself, and until I return home after the event. I have read the above in full and understand that it is designed to promote the health and safety of all event participants.
REFUND POLICY
We will do our best to provide a refund should you not be able to attend because of illness or family emergency.
Refunds may vary based on the date of request, hard costs spent on supplies/materials, and the camp's willingness to accommodate a refund.
WHAT IF MY TEEN ENDS UP ON THE WAITLIST AND I'VE ALREADY PAID?
If you have registered and paid after all available spots have been taken, your teen will automatically be added to a wait list until we can fill an additional bus.
If your teen is added to the waitlist, we will contact you and you will have two options:
Receive a full refund and be removed from the wait list
Remain on the wait list without a refund. Once registration closes on August 2nd, if we do not have enough teens on the wait list to fill an additional bus, you will be notified and will automatically receive a refund (minus processing fees if paid with credit card).
You can remove your teen from the waitlist at any point and receive a refund (minus processing fees if paid with credit card)
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TEEN GETS MOVED OFF OF THE WAITLIST?
We will contact you to confirm your teen's participation. At that time you will have two options:
If your teen is no longer able to attend, we will offer you a full refund (minus processing fees if paid with credit card).
Teen will attend the retreat and our regular refund policy will apply.
