For my Senior Showcase, I found inspiration from personal artwork from a few years ago. The piece was a square ceramic bowl with a re-creation of a Pierre-Auguste Renoir painting of two young girls sitting together in a field. For the Showcase, I decided to hand-build square ceramic bowls and keep the focus of the two young girls in honor of the original artwork. This time I based the girls on my sister and me and the memories of our childhood. I hope you enjoy a walk down my memory lane and can find fragments of your own childhood within the paintings.
Holding On by Kate Hunter
Rewind my tape, play me back a wish.
Field my desires for one more chance to play it all again
Again keeps happening and wishes change
Change keeps comfortable in a dandelion cloud
And it dreams.
Rewind my tape, play me back a story.
Two laying in far off looks dreaming up possibilities
Soaking rays mist through the air growing change
Change slows the mind and becomes imperceptible
And it laughs away.
Rewind my tape, play me back a dream.
Sun spotting faces glowing patterns surround
Black and white support beams carry us toward change
Change grows napping leaves green paths
And it won’t hold back.
Rewind my tape, play me back an adventure.
Wave to me from the lily pads
Spotting dragons fly and do yoga at lunch for a change
Change keeps toes on point and oars going
And it moves on.
Rewind my tape, play me back a memory.
Gliding air into shapes that sway to
And from the wind giggles let it change
Change hangs back and launches forward
And it won’t let go.
