RS Co-Creation Theme Concepts

Some background: 

Co-Creation was a concept that was first revealed in early 2023, with a competition launched in Bilibili to collect themes by fans of Rolling Sky, known today as Season 1. Most, if not all of the themes are submitted by Chinese players.

Afterwards, a submission mode was opened for foreigners to submit their themes, and is still valid today.

The first co-creation theme released in the official game and the first theme concept of Season 1 is Lab -CONFIDENTIAL- on 16 July 2023, with the theme designer being DragonSauce, the music composer being TDX, and the level's router being WhatWF.

In August 2023, the Summer Tournament (also known as Season 2) was launched. In this event, 12 themes (5 voted and 7 selected) were revealed. This contest caused a heavy backlash, with reasons being lack of organization and controversies on why certain themes, like Barbeque Night and Calligraphy Realm, were selected. The official Rolling Sky apologized for their immaturity in organizing events, and all the theme designers will have their art reviewed and make improvements, and only the satisfactory ones will finally be included in-game. As of September 2026, 8 out of the 12 winning submissions were included.

Melodic Metropolis was the first theme designed by a foreigner, Sneek22. It was released in November 2023.

The first co-creation theme in the second season is Starlight Desert. It was released on 28 June 2024. 

In August 2026, the Co-Creation Season 3 competition was launched, and a total of 15 themes were selected to be added into the game in the future.
