The Ron Palmer Memorial Scholarship Fund Inc. (RPMSF) is a nonprofit 501(C)3 organization and was created in 2018 after the death of Songwriter, Musician, Father and member of the local music community, Ron Palmer. With the efforts of friends and family the first Ron Palmer Tribute and Reunion Event took place in June of 2019. The first scholarships were awarded to two Norwich High School graduating students from the class of June 2020.
The Ron Palmer Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor Ron Palmer as well as many other local musicians who are no longer with us. Ron was the lead guitarist for Harry Chapin before retiring with his beloved wife Betty Ann at their home dubbed the Palmerosa where both of them lived until their passing. Ron's love of music, his creativity and his huge heart and love for his friends and family left a lasting memory for all of us. The scholarship fund was created to keep his memory as well as so many others alive by coming together to enjoy great music from area musicians.
With the purchase of a mask, t-shirt and/or music festival ticket you can help us, help deserving students work towards achieving their dreams. This fundraiser has been created to raise funds for the donation of scholarship money to graduating students of Norwich NY High School who are furthering their education in the musical and dramatic arts.
Here is a video of an interview with Ron taken during the Fetish Fest, 2008 in which he summarizes his musical career.
