Living and working in the Vale of Glamorgan, I know how many stunning backdrops we have right on our doorstep. Whether you're dreaming of a windswept coastal session, a cosy woodland shoot, or a timeless look by a serene lake, the Vale has a perfect spot for your photos. Here are a few of my favourite locations to help you find the perfect setting for your session. 

Vibe: Secluded, intimate, and scenic.

Why it's great for photos: Jackson's Bay is a beautiful, sheltered cove that feels more private and quiet than other local beaches. The mix of sandy shores, rocky cliffs, and vibrant water offers a dramatic yet intimate backdrop. It’s perfect for capturing quiet, personal moments.

Best for: Intimate couples' shoots and candid, documentary-style family sessions.

Vibe: Lush, natural, and timeless.

Why it's great for photos: Porthkerry offers a little bit of everything. You have wide-open fields, magical woodland trails, a beautiful viaduct, and a small beach area. The variety here means you can get a wide range of photos in one session.

Best for: Families with active kids, rustic-style couples' shoots, and relaxed personal branding sessions. 

Vibe: Serene, peaceful, and rustic.  

Why it's great for photos: Cosmeston offers a beautiful combination of calm lakes, open grasslands, and ancient woodlands. The medieval village provides a unique and charming backdrop, while the bridges and docks over the water are perfect for creating romantic and artistic shots.  

Best for: Romantic engagement sessions, elegant branding shoots, and family portraits.
