In my studio performance as James Tyrone from Long Day’s Journey into Night by Eugene O’Neill, I tried to show him as a strong but troubled father. He is proud of his success as an actor, but he also feels regret because he chose money over true artistic growth. James Tyrone loves his family, but he often shows it in a strict and harsh way. He worries a lot about money and fears becoming poor, which affects his behavior. In the play, his relationship with his wife and sons is full of tension, blame, and sadness. During my performance, I used simple expressions, voice changes, and body language to show both his anger and his hidden emotions. This role helped me understand that a person can be loving and flawed at the same time, and that past decisions can deeply affect one’s life.
I worked as a backstage team member in this performance, supporting the event behind the scenes. My role included helping with coordination, managing preparations, and ensuring everything ran smoothly during the program. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and the effort required behind the stage to make a performance successful.
