What is Involvement?
Involvement is a combination of commitment and active participation on the part of the parent/guardian to the school and to the student. Involvement during the required social distancing and small group limitations of COVID-19 may look very different in some areas, but generally there are many ways to be involved in your student's school experience:
At Home
· Ask your children to explain what they learned in school
· Create a homework space in your home
· Make sure your student has the supplies he/she needs to complete assignments
· Have a weekly family reading/math/game night
· Donate items to be used in the classroom
· Help your child study for a test/quiz
· Check your child’s agenda for assignments and notices
· Check parent portal for missing assignments
· Visit the website or Facebook page and find out one new thing about RSMS
At School
· Chaperone at a dance/field trip
· Make a presentation in a classroom
· Help organize volunteers
· Mentor/tutor a student
· Create bulletin boards
· Assist in the library
· Welcome new families
· Picture Day helper
· Attend school events
· Attend PTSA meetings/events
· Attend or assist with sporting events/tournaments
· Volunteer with PTSA at school
In the Community
· Attend School Committee meetings
· Get involved with community groups that help the schools
· Participate in community service with your child
· Help to get community businesses involved with school events through donations or service
As you can see involvement doesn't mean you have to spend hours volunteering or even be at school every day. We love it when we have active adult volunteers engaged in our building because without them we can't offer some of the events and programs that we'd like! Check out our Three For Me volunteer initiative for an easy, no long term commitment to to volunteering.

All volunteers who are in the school on a regular basis or those who have responsibility for students besides their own must have a current background check on file before they are permitted to volunteer in any Scott County School. Unsure of your status? Email the Volunteer Coordinator for Royal Spring here and they will assist you.
