Key cards against this match-up:
Leopardmon (BT13-056)
Alphamon (BT13-075)
LordKnightmon (BT13-090)
Beware of the many removal tools this deck has – at least during mid game where they have enough trash setup to delete your Royal Knights. This can get very annoying since it prevents your Royal Knights from being absorbed into King Drasil_7D6 (BT13-007). LordKnightmon can recycle a key Royal Knights that was removed.
Try to block as much attacks as possible from their small Digimon. Only their Megas can get through your Royal Knights and they’re only enabled when the trash is filled enough.
In this match-up, accept that eventually your security will be gone because of Beelzemon (X Antibody) (BT12-085). Don’t be afraid – if they can’t land the final attack on you, you are still in the game. Craniamon (BT13-077) is risky since Seventh Full Cluster (BT12-110) can trigger when they evolve into Beelzemon (X-Antibody). Having multiple blockers from Leopardmon effect or Gankoomon is better in this match-up. Alphamon stops their Beelzemon > Beelzemon (X-Antibody) > Beelzemon: Blast Mode finisher from happening.
Gallantmon gets a bonus in this match-up since the Trash fills up fast. Go figure.

Watch out for these card(s):Â
Psychemon (BT8-071)Â
Akihiro Kurata (BT13-103)
Belphemon: Sleep Mode (BT13-088)
Belphemon: Rage Mode (BT13-091)
Key card(s) against this match-up:
Porcupamon (BT13-081)
Alphamon (BT13-075)
UlforceVeedramon (BT13-030)
Marcus Damon (BT13-095)Â
Royal Knights of the Purge (BT13-110)
This match-up is quite favorable if not for Psychemon. It is the reason why most Royal Knight decks now include either Porcupamon (BT13-081) or Marcus Damon (BT13-095) to remove it ASAP.
Royal Knights is severely hindered if it’s being locked by Psychemon for multiple turns and it can be a decisive factor for the match-up. Jesmon (BT13-017) is your last resort if you don’t have Porcupamon / Marcus, or a Purge set to bring out removals like Gallantmon or Kentaurosmon. It’s better to pay 11 memory rather than being unable to play at all. There were games where I had to play Jesmon for 11 to remove multiple Psychemon and I still won.
I chose Porcupamon because it can delete twice, costs 4, and an extra body to attack. Marcus is also a good choice since it’s a memory setter and can work when checked from security. In my opinion, Royal Knights doesn’t really benefit much from starting at 3 memory every turn and in practice, my opponents have another Psychemon to play again after I remove 1. This is up to player’s preference, so there are no right or wrong choices.
Control the board from the small Digimon and the Gizmon. UlforceVeedramon is good in this match-up since it bounces and prevents any on deletion effects, which is Purple’s main gimmick.
Keep an eye on your opponent’s hand count – the magic number is 6. Don’t attack recklessly if Belphemon: Sleep Mode is in play and they have 8 or less cards in hand. It’s better to lose 2 security instead of 4.
One thing that Royal Knights can capitalize against Belphemon is that they always telegraph Belphemon: Rage Mode by playing Belphemon: Sleep Mode first. When that happens, play Alphamon. Belphemon: Rage Mode won’t be able to attack and next turn it can be easily removed by the likes of Gallantmon (BT13-111), Omnimon (BT13-112), and UlforceVeedramon. Also, Belphemon: Rage Mode board wipe effect doesn’t really affect Royal Knight other than Magnamon (BT13-040) and deleting cards like Omekamon (BT13-093) helps you instead.
Beware of Akihiro Kurata [Opponent’s End of Turn] effect that deletes one Level 6 Digimon by attaching it under a Belphemon. Remember that it’s a Tamer effect, so even Craniamon is not immune to it. That’s why Alphamon is perfect for this match-up since it stops Belphemon: Rage Mode from attacking and can protect itself against Kurata.

Watch out for these card(s):Â
Hydramon (EX3-045)
Bloomlordmon (BT10-057)
Pomumon (EX3-038)
Key card(s) against this match-up:
Alphamon (BT13-075)
Gallantmon (BT13-111)
Jesmon (BT13-111)
BloomLord is a very explosive deck, that spams a lot of Digimon from nowhere. The inclusion of Ukkomon (P-123) and the new cards from BT14 just makes it even faster and more consistent.
Beware of the deck’s ability to suddenly check 3-4 security out of nowhere and have your Royal Knights removed by their Hydramon.
Gallantmon is good in this match-up because the Megas tend to have high DP, so it will delete Hydramon and you can attack Bloomlordmon.
Jesmon is good for cutting the grass before it grows too much.Â
Alphamon can buy you time as well. Especially after a Quartzmon (BT12-057).

Key cards against this match-up:
Craniamon (BT13-077)
UlforceVeedramon (BT13-030)
Blue Flare is a very difficult match-up for Royal Knights. They are very hard to interact with since MetalGreymon (BT10-024) appears on their turn with <Rush>, while also stunning your blockers. Even Alphamon (BT13-075) can’t stall them since only ZeigGreymon have a play cost above 10. They also discourage you from having more than one Digimon in play, or else it will enable a lot of their effects.
UlforceVeedramon helps in trashing MetalGreymon sources so they will have less materials saved. Craniamon is very important because it’s immune to stun and no Blue Flare Digimon can get past through it naturally.
Just like against any other aggro decks, you need to defend and control the board as best as you can. If there is any opportunity to remove their Digimon, especially MetalGreymon, then do so. Royal Knights of the Purge (BT13-110) helps you with that.
Beware of Sourai because it will completely stun you and it’s even worse when checked in security during your Omnimon (BT13-112) turn. Leopardmon (BT13-056) and LordKnightmon (BT13-090) can salvage the game for you when that happens. The former can create a lot of blockers – hopefully more than your opponent can stun. The latter limits the number of your opponent’s plays if they decide to attack.

Watch out for these card(s):Â
Arresterdramon: Superior Mode (BT12-083)Â
OmniShoutmon (BT12-014)
Key card(s) against this match-up:
Craniamon (BT13-077)
Leopardmon (BT13-056)
UlforceVeedramon (BT13-030)
Unless they have a very good start and aggro you fast, Royal Knights should have a good match-up vs. Hunters. OmniShoutmon needs to be juiced up with sources to be able to delete anything besides Magnamon. Arresterdramon: Superior Mode can’t remove an Royal Knight easily because the deck rarely has more than one Digimon in play and rarely plays Tamers at all. Craniamon absolutely stops them. However, don’t underestimate them, because they can suddenly make an explosive move out of nowhere and catch you off guard.
Use UlforceVeedramon effect to strip as many sources as possible. The small <Save> Digimon can’t pass through blockers such as Magnamon (BT13-040), Gankoomon (BT13-019), and any other Royal Knights affected by Leopardmon effect easily.
An inherent benefit that Royal Knight has against Hunters is that our security is filled with high DP Digimon, and their boss monsters OmniShoutmon and Arresterdramon: Superior Mode doesn’t have material save if they die (unless Clockmon is in their sources, giving it <Jamming>).
Quartzmon is not even a threat to Royal Knights because we usually don’t have a lot of Digimon and Tamers out on the field and all our suspended Royal Knights are absorbed into Yggdrasil anyway. It is also very easy to remove with Gallantmon (BT13-111), Omnimon (BT13-112), or stalled by Alphamon (BT13-075) or Examon (BT13-059).

Key card(s) against this match-up:
Alphamon (BT13-075)
Dynasmon (BT13-087)
Jesmon (BT13-017)
With the unlimited SaviorHuckmon (BT6-015), this deck got some folks playing it again. You need to clean up the Sistermons, and even after that, the combo with Jesmon GX (BT10-112) puts 3 again on the board. Purging Dynasmon and playing another RK normally cleans the entire board. This deck can clear security very fast, and the high DP from GX is a menace.
Consider using both Crimson Blaze (BT8-097) and Kongou (BT9-103) if this is popular on your region. Alphamon and Kongou hold one turn easily.

Key card(s) against this match-up:
 Alphamon (BT13-075)
Craniamon (BT13-077)
UlforceVeedramon (BT13-030)
Red Hybrids can pressure you fast with a combination of Flamemon swarm and high DP Hybrids, then finish you off with EmperorGreymon.
Defend as best as you can – blocking attacks and removing their Digimon at any given opportunity. Be prepared to sacrifice your blockers, as this is now a battle of attrition of whether you can hold on until your opponent runs out of fuel.Â
Alphamon is perfect to stop EmperorGreymon from attacking and protects itself from the deletion effect. Craniamon is ready to serve King Drasil_7D6 (BT12-007) with its life by taking a big hit from EmperorGreymon. Always learn to accept that you will lose security against aggro decks and try your best to prevent the final attack to the player.
UlforceVeedramon is the perfect counter to Red Hybrids since it strips sources and bounces, preventing on deletion effects to trigger. Against EmperorGreymon (BT12-017), it is very good because it will completely stop it from gaining anything when removed. Keep in mind that you need three Royal Knight to do this on a EmperorGreymon stack (6 sources), so Gankoomon (BT13-019) / Leopardmon (BT13-056) / Royal Knights of the Purge (BT13-110) helps to increase the Royal Knights count.
Beware of EmperorGreymon (BT7-016) and Atomic Inferno (BT4-098) since they will grant lots of memory if you decide to block them. Its your call to decide the importance of the attack and whether to block or not.
This deck got even more speed with Ukkomon (P-123), so mulligan remembering that.

Watch out for these card(s):Â
Alphamon (BT13-075)
Omnimon (BT13-112)
Key card(s) against this match-up:
Alphamon (BT13-075)
Omnimon (BT13-112)
Royal Knights of the Purge (BT13-110)
Kind of self-explanatory: In the mirror match, in general, whoever is first to play Omnimon and attack wins. Alphamon changes that dynamic into whoever was first to stop playing Alphamon loses.
Keep track of the number of sources under your opponent’s King Drasil_7D6 (BT13-007). Play Alphamon if you think that they will have enough sources and play cost reduction to play Omnimon next turn.
Royal Knights of the Purge helps to speed up your race for the Omnimon timer. Be careful on using the Delay effect, since your opponent can easily remove the Royal Knight you brought out.
Don’t miss an opportunity to attack or remove an opponent’s Royal Knight, but don’t become too intent on it that you end up spending key Royal Knights effects that are better used at a different timing.
A good thing to remember in the mirror match is that King Drasil_7D6’s inherited effect works anytime an Option with Royal Knight trait is placed – doesn’t matter who does it. So, if you check security and it’s Royal Knights of the Purge or From Master to Disciple (ST12-15), you will gain memory. However, since it is a mandatory once per turn effect, you won’t gain memory if you place your own Royal Knight trait Option after.

Watch out for these card(s):Â
ShineGreymon (BT12-043)
ShineGreymon: Burst Mode (BT12-020)
Marcus Damon (BT12-092)
Key card(s) against this match-up:
Craniamon (BT13-077)
Omnimon (BT13-112)
Royal Knights of the Purge (BT13-110)
Possibly the strongest deck in the current meta right now. ShineGreymon strength comes from its ability to play multiple Marcus for free and overwhelms you with free evolutions from Marcus Damon (BT12-092) effect, multiple minus DP effects against your Digimon, and finish you off with Burst Mode.
Try to remove any Agumon / Greymon on the field so they can’t promote Marcus as an attacker.Â
Omnimon first effect is a surefire way to remove a ShineGreymon in play. For the smaller Digimon, you can use Jesmon (BT13-017), UlforceVeedramon (BT13-030), or an Royal Knight played by Royal Knights of the Purge (BT13-110) to answer them e.g. Dynasmon (BT13-087) or Kentaurosmon (BT13-046).Â
Don’t rely too much on Leopardmon or Magnamon to block since the minus DP effects can remove them easily. Craniamon is the best blocker in this match-up because it blocks anything other than ShineGreymon: Burst Mode. Don’t hesitate to sacrifice it to block a big attack. Winning or losing can be decided by blocking the correct attack!
You may need to play Omnimon early because this deck puts high pressure on you as well as having lots of security at mid / late game due to Marcus attacking and recovered by RizeGreymon effect when it is deleted, so you don’t have the luxury of time and may need 2 turns to finish your opponent after Omnimon second effect. With a myriad of removals and blockers, ShineGreymon doesn’t have an easy way to rebuild while answering a board full of Royal Knights.

Watch out for these card(s):Â
MetalGreymon (X Antibody) (BT9-015)
WarGreymon (BT12-070)
WarGreymon (X Antibody) (BT9-016)
BlackWarGreymon (X Antibody) (BT11-074)
Omnimon (X Antibody) (BT10-086)
Key card(s) against this match-up:
Alphamon (BT13-075)
Gallantmon (BT13-111)
WarGreymon position in the metagame might be affected post April 1, 2023 due to Greymon (X-Antibody) (BT11-064) being limited. However, it is still a strong, explosive deck that needs to be respected.
Beware of the deck’s ability to suddenly check 3-4 security out of nowhere and have your Royal Knights removed by their Mega lineup such as the cards shown above.
Gallantmon is good in this match-up because the Greymon Megas tend to have high DP, so it will delete them twice, which can push through their protection effects in general.Â
Alphamon and Examon can buy you time as well. Remember that Examon [All Turns] effect can activate on WarGreymon (BT12-070) when it unsuspends and stops it from attacking again.
