研究成果發表於奈米通訊期刊(Nano Letters)

沙漏費米子為一新型費米子電子態,在2016年與2018年被預測可能出現在兩類材料中,該電子態除了有特別的沙漏狀能帶結構,也有特殊得三維推廣之量子霍爾自旋效應。本研究利用同步輻射之VUV光角解析光電子能譜、穿隧式電子顯微鏡、X光繞射等技術,分析層狀半金屬Nb3SiTe6材料中的沙漏費米子電子態。除了量測到沙漏費米子一部分的狄拉克節點線之外,我們也量測到自旋電子流的電子能帶結構。本論文提供許多直觀證據,有助於進一步了解沙漏費米子的物理特性。此研究成果發表在美國化學學會出版的《奈米通訊》 (Nano Letters)並獲選為當期期刊內頁封面。

About

My research interest focuses on discovering electronic dynamics and band structure of novel quantum materials by using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) or time-resolved (TRARPES). Prior to LBNL, I earned a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Tokyo (under the advisement of Prof. Iwao Matsuda). In my Ph.D., I was challenging frontier ultrafast topics – discovering Floquet-Bloch state, valley-dependent circular polarization, Femto- to Picosecond carrier dynamics, nano-second surface photovoltage relaxation and coherent phonon excitations in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) monolayers. In ultrafast electronic field, I involved in many big science projects, collaborated with 3 TRARPES groups, 3 free-electron laser based time-resolved experiments, and countless ARPES stations in 6 synchrotron facilities in the world. Beside my main projects, I’ve hosted international users in time-resolved Xray photoemission spectroscopy (TRXPS) station at BL07LSU, SPring-8 for years. In TRXPS station, we discovered surface photovoltage relaxation in nanoseconds at surfaces (solar cell materials, oxides, TMDCs, 2D materials), offering a fundamental understanding for chemical reactions at catalyst surface, and electron-hole combination process in solar cells.
