I was part of the grant: Promoting Success in Undergraduate Mathematics(PSUM) through Graduate Teacher Training (PSUM-GTT), this is a collaborative and multi-faceted grant between The University of Memphis, Auburn University and University of Colorado Denver.
The aim is to help our GTAs become better instructors and tutors through writing journal reflection entries, attending seminars offered by the three institutions, peer mentoring by more experienced GTAs in the department and attending the GTA Teacher training course (MATH 7960) in the second semester of their first year.
At University of Memphis I tutored for 4 consecutive semesters online(during pandemic) and offline at the Math Learning Centre.
During the pandemic in 2020, I uploaded some videos on YouTube on Linear Algebra in the Bengali Language to help students build basic concepts while the schools were shut down.
Thrive Scholars aims to help talented, economically disadvantaged BIPOC students achieve inter-generational wealth, financial security, and leadership roles in corporate, civic, and academic fields. The Summer Academy Program, designed for rising high school seniors and college first-years, spans six weeks in the first summer and five weeks in the second.
The classroom setup is different from regular classrooms. There are one hour of lecture followed by two and a half hours of active learning. During the first hour of active learning, students solves worksheet questions. For the remaining time, they played "games", solving questions either individually or in groups, depending on the "game" type.
