What is SDG 2?
The goal of SDG 2 is solving world hunger. The number of undernourished people has dropped by almost half in the past two decades because of rapid economic growth and increased agricultural productivity. Many developing countries that used to suffer from famine and hunger can now meet their nutritional needs.
Unfortunately, extreme hunger and malnutrition remain a huge barrier to development in many countries.

Ogni italiano spreca, in media, 65 kg all’anno di alimenti. Lo spreco alimentare in Italia è di oltre 15 miliardi di euro. Frutta e verdura sono i prodotti maggiormente eliminati, ma per produrre il cibo sprecato sono serviti 73 milioni di metri cubi di acqua
Lo spreco di cibo è un fenomeno ancor più grave ed inaccettabile se consideriamo che la fame nel mondo è in costante aumento (822 milioni di persone colpite circa 1/7 della popolazione mondiale) e che più di 2 miliardi di persone vivono in Paesi in cui la scarsità d’acqua è un rischio classificato come “elevato”.

Hunger in COVID crisis.
The hunger doesn't stop in times of health crisis. In most cases it becomes even worse. Hunger and malnutrition have increased among the low-income communities around the world. While loans stay the same or drop, about 94% of respondents reported a rise in price of food. The number of severe malnutrition cases in Nigeria grew by 10% compared to year.
