CLUB SUCCESSES
1. Club Projects
a) Hopes of Smile Project – at Home Again Children’s Home. This was the first ever project
executed by the Rotaract club of Kaihura on the 22nd Aug 2021. This project involved donation of
different relief items (food items, sundries ad clothing materials) to children at HOME Again –
Kaihura during the COVID19 Crisis. This was such a significant project because it came at a time
when the orphanage was struggling to survive through the crisis with most of its funders having
been affected by the Global Covid 19 crisis. It’s also a historical Project because it was
implemented just one day after the first ever charter celebration and installation of the charter
president. This project not only created smiles amongst the orphanage but also built a
foundation for a stronger partnership between Rotaract Kaihura and Bringing Hope to the
Family – an Organization that runs the Orphanage.
b) Clean Kaihura Project. This Project adopted in November 2021 remains one of the signature
projects for the Rotaract Club of Kaihura which is carried out on an annual basis. The main goal
of this project was to give back to the local community, build a local brand while creating
impact. The project focuses on protecting the environment through advocating for proper waste
disposal with in the town, stop plastic usage campaign, mass sensitization and health education
on sanitation and hygiene, environmental protection and tree planting campaigns and Road
safety advocacy and safe road usage campaigns and annual distributions of road safety reflector
jackets to boda boda riders. A community that used to struggle from sanitation related
outbreaks like diarrhea diseases, dysenteries and a few other health related challenges now
boosts of a very stable health status courtesy of the clean Project. Also over 500 hundred fruit
and soft wood trees have been plated within and in the suburbs of Kaihura town through the
environmental conservation campaign. Every Year in Dec during the festive season, all members
of this Rotaract club proudly gather with in Kaihura town to implement this signature project
that continues to build a strong brand for this club.
c) Kaihura Go-Green Project. The Rotaract club of Kaihura has adopted a culture of implementing
strategic and continuous projects and the Kaihura Go –Green Project is one of those adopted to
be implemented continuously and merged into the clubs strategic work plan to be implemented
every year. The Kaihura Go-Green Project focuses on environmental conservation through
greening the environment by planting as many trees as possible. Since the start of this project in
2022, over 4000 trees have been planted in partnership with different institutions with
churches, schools and the four interact clubs. The most distinguished ones include; 600 trees at
Holy Trinity Church of Uganda – Bwenzi, Kyenjojo District in April 2022, 400 trees planted at
Maddox SS with the Interactors in 2023 and 2024, over 500 trees planted in three different
phases at Kyenjojo SS in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and 250 trees planted at Mr Nkojos residence in
Kisekera Kyenjojo. Other institutions that have benefited from the program include, Katooke SS
through the Interact Club of Katooke SS, Kaihura Church of Uganda, St Mary’s Villa Malaria
Health Centre III among others. The Club has a plan to plant over 10,000 trees with in the
Kaihura Community by 2030 through this project.
d) Villa Maria HC III – Incinerator Project. After a comprehensive needs assessment with a
great consideration of the community’s input in 2022, it was discovered that one of the
most dependable health centers – Villa Maria HC III, was lacking a proper medical waste
treatment site, which put the health status of the entire community at high risk of
contracting diseases resulting from poor medical wastes disposal – hence a need to start
the campaign to construct an incinerator. With support from Midas Touch Medical
center – our corporate sponsors, we were able to raise 1,400 USD and started on the
construction of a modern Incinerator at Villa Maria Health Center III. The Project was
officially launched in 2023 and on 18th Mar 2018, a fully complete incinerator was
handed over to the facility. Today the facility boosts of one of the most standard and
modern incinerator with no more worry about wastes disposal.
e) New Hope Vocational Institute Project – International Global Grant Supported Project.
The Rotaract club of Kaihura’s Legacy is built on its strong capacity to do impactful projects. We
have adopted a norm of service project throughout all our years of existence, interestingly doing it
with fun while focusing on a long standing and sustainable significance.
Like the so many other excellent stories, and so is the New Hope vocational institute story.
In July 2021 during the Change making year, as a club in Partnership with Bringing Hope to the
family Organization, we wrote a Proposal to partner with The Rotary club of Cary
MacGregor D7710, North Carolina, USA. The proposal involved raising Money jointly to
support New Hope Vocational Institute to Construct an Improved Pit Latrine, a Modern
Kitchen and a Dining Facility at the Institute. Fortunately, In May 2022 the Proposal was
successfully granted and a donation worthy 25,000USD was granted to the Rotaract club of
Kaihura to implement the Project. Work commenced immediately in four Phases.
And on the 28th of Mar 2025, fully finished 8 –stance Improved Pit latrine and a Modern Kitchen
attached to a dining facility was officially handed over to the institute. The institute was chosen
for this project because it’s a collection center for many orphans and less privileged children in
Kyenjojo district who had less hopes of continuing with their education. Bringing Hope to the
family offered these children a chance to study in different vocation skills and yet the conditions
still needed a lot of support and thus a call for our input. Detailed Project Report is attached in
the Link. Proposal;

Shine Kyenjojo SS – Interact supported Project. The Interact club of Kyenjojo SS is one of the
most active Rotaract clubs in the District. This club has implemented several projects with
support from the Rotaract club of Kaihura. In their Shine Kyenjojo SS Project, this club through
our support designed and implemented a comprehensive concept that included sanitation and
hygiene campaign in the school, proper waste disposal, donation of waste bins and trash cans
with in the school, planting of several fruit and compound trees and distribution of mosquito
repellants to protect against the spread of malaria through controlling mosquitos.
