Being of a certain age, we don't like to rush things, so we flew up to Cairns a few days before we were due to board the ship. This gave us some time to see a few local sights, and to figure out what we'd forgotten to pack - there's always something!
The Esplanade in Cairns has had a huge make-over since we were last here. Lots of new eateries, all seemingly well patronised. The fact that it was school holidays as well as about 10 days before Christmas probably helped with the atmosphere.
