Rosie Fruge

About me

My name is Rosie Fruge. I am a senior at Oxford High School. This is my fourth year on the Charger staff. I served as a staff writer the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years, as well as the business manager and features editor for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school year. I also serve as the social media manager and take all sports photos for the Charger. I participated in an Ole Miss journalism invitational in the summer of 2019, and won awards at previous MSPA conferences throughout the years for design, writing, and photojournalism. I have also written and taken photos for the Invitational Oxford (a local magazine.) I am the varsity captain of the OHS golf team, and hold many positions of clubs throughout our school including: Key Club, DECA, Science Olympiad, RISE, More than a Meal, Student Council, Students for Alzheimer's, Chess Club, Model EU, Love-packs and many more. I also participate in LPGA's Gen. Z Council for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity, which is a group of 75 selected girl golfers around the nation to help further emphasize the importance of change to make this a more welcoming and inclusive sport to young girls. I coach one of these groups of girls every week to further my position on this committee. Newspaper has been beneficial in developing my skills in and out of the news room. I have learned to interview and communicate with others; make and maintain an online presence; and to tell the truth for others to understand. I will be attending the University of Mississippi in the fall to study pharmaceutical sciences. These skills of time management, writing, communication and many others will benefit me in the future.
