Proton BASIC Compilers
Powerful and easy to use BASIC compilers for 8-bit PIC and 16-bit PIC24 and dsPIC33 microcontrollers.
This site will host source code and tutorials for the Proton and Proton24 compilers, showing how to do simple things like flashing LEDs, to Echo units, Graphic LCDs, and all sorts of peripheral chip interfacing. So let's have some fun!
The compiler can be downloaded from here:
Here's a Setup for the compilers to make them; version 18.104.22.168 for Proton and version 22.214.171.124 for Proton24. This version of the 8-bit Proton compiler adds support for the newer PIC16F and PIC18F devices. The Proton 8-bit compiler has gotten even better and now has support for Procedures the same as Proton24, and they are still free.
The compiler manuals can be downloaded from here, although they are also installed with the compilers:
- Proton Compiler Manual
- Proton24 Compiler Manual
- Amicus Companion Shield Manual
- Using the Amicus18 board with the Free Proton Compiler
For the users of the compiler who wish to translate the compiler manuals, here they are in their original Microsoft Word .Doc format. Please respect the links and names in the manuals, and any translations must also contain them.
For those interested in what the Proton compiler is, and what its code looks like, all the sample codes that get installed with the compiler are available here:
And here for the Proton24 compiler, which is installed for free with the 8-bit Proton compiler:
