The concept of this project is to raise fundings for the charity Women’s Aid by organising a sale of roses in the college for Valentine's Day. All the students and lecturers interested in buying a rose can add a little card where they can write what they want on it. Thus, they would either have the possibility to deliver it by themselves or we could deliver it for them into the college.
To achieve this project, we will firstly organising presales during the Valentine's week in the Atrium.
During these two days you could reserve and be sure to have a rose to pick up for Valentine's Day. Moreover if you want our delivery service you must book during these presales.
Then, on the 14th of February (from 10 am to 12 am) we will have a stand in the Atrium where you could pick up your roses and don't worry for the little latecomer we will sell roses too but we won’t book deliveries during this day.
For this lovely attention, you will have to pay €3 and if you want to add a card with it, you will be charged €0,50.
Valentine's day is the day on which love is celebrated. This name day has a great story behind the celebration. Valentin de Terni, was a monk who refused to submit to the emperor Claude II Le Gothic. At that time, the emperor wanted to prohibit marriage to avoid the fact that men wanted to stay with their wifes and family instead of going to war.
But Valentin de Terni didn’t respect this authority and kept marrying couples. So he was imprisoned and during his incarceration he met the prison guard’s daughter: Julia
Julia was blind and asked Valentin to describe her the word. Through long talks and exchanges the two people fell in love and prodigiously Julia got back her sight.
This miracle was shared and relieved by everyone so much that Claude II Le Gothique, who didn't like Christian, decided to sentence Valentin to death. That’s how Valentin became a martyr, a love partisan and began to be considered as a Saint by the Pope Gelas 1er who decided to give pride of place to him each 14th of February since 494.
We are three IADT students in 3rd year following the Applied Entrepreneurship course who are organizing a social project for their social enterprise module. By going a partnership with Women's Aid, we hope to help women suffering from domestic violence and put the smile back on children's face!
To know us better, here are pictures of us when we were child :)
