Saturday, July 23rd- Meet at St. Nick's parking lot 6:30 a.m. Gather and load vans.
Drive to Mankato, MN for a brief stop at the Dakota 38 Reconciliation Park. 6.5 hrs. 427.8 miles. Gas/bathroom stops and stop for lunch on the way.
Continue to the Calvary Episcopal Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for our overnight stay. 2.5 hrs. 156.6 miles.
Bring bag lunches/snacks and filled labeled water bottle; we will have coolers in the rental vans.
Sunday, July 24th- Attend the Calvary Tiospaye Wakan service at 12:30 p.m. and then continue on to the Akta Lakota Museum in Chamberlain, South Dakota. 2 hrs. 142.3 miles. Continue on to Mission. 1 hr and 45 minutes. 110.1 miles
Monday July 25th- Friday, July 29th - Service work in the community doing what we are asked to do. Cultural activities during the week and on day off. Our day off may include some of the following: Wounded Knee Memorial, Red Cloud Indian School, Custer State Park, (driving Needles Highway, the Wildlife Loop and stopping at Sylvan Lake) and Crazy Horse Memorial.
Saturday July 30st/ Sunday July 31st -
Van 1 Leave early on July 30th and drive straight back to Chicago (approximately 13 or 13.5 hrs.)
Van 2 Leave in the morning time t.b.d. on July 30th. Visit the Badlands National Park (1.5 hrs away) in the morning. Stop overnight stop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at Calvary again. (3hrs 45 min from Badlands). Leave Calvary July 31st time t.b.d. and drive back to Chicago.
Possible plan from Sioux Falls:
Sioux Falls to Blue Earth Minnesota (2.8 hrs). Bag lunches by the Jolly Green Giant.
Blue Earth Minnesota to Madison (4.5 hrs plus gas/bathroom stop). Dinner in Madison.
Madison to home (2.5 hrs).
