Your Body As Your Instrument: Body, Breath and Voice for Bards and Heralds
This class is designed to teach the basics of posture, breath support and vocal diction to help performers of any time be more effective and healthier with the use of their voice. It is suitible for beginners, but also may offer insight for more experienced vocallists. I usually teach this class in an hour, but it could be expanded to longer. Students participate and also take notes.
Folk Music Forms in the British Isles
This class is an overview of the rhythmic and melodic forms of popular folk music in the British Isles during the Early Modern era, as well as some of the more popular instruments that were played. It is intended to help musicians, audience members and dancers recogize tune forms, as well as support the selection of modern folk tunes that are most appropriate to the SCA period.
