Hi, I’m Madison, and I just wanted to share a little piece of where I’m at right now and my story thus far! I don’t know what tomorrow holds for me, but my maker has laid out the steps for each day and each day a piece of me changes.
The last couple of years have been a whirlwind. I graduated high school in May of 2023, went straight into hair school, lost friendships I thought would last forever, got engaged and then walked away from an engagement that wasn’t filling my cup, tried Eastern Kentucky University and realized it wasn’t where I was meant to be, and now I’ve just transferred to The University of Louisville — stepping into a brand-new city and a brand-new chapter. All of that came with a lot of emotions: excitement, fear, loss, and honestly, a lot of questions.
Through those transitions, I found myself asking the same things many of us ask in new seasons: How am I going to figure this out? What if I don’t know anyone? Am I just going to blend into the crowd? And if I’m honest, sometimes I felt exactly that — like I was just one more face in the room, unsure where I belonged.
But here’s what God has been teaching me: I was never really alone. Community has a way of showing up when you least expect it. God has placed people in my life at just the right moments — friends, mentors, second families — people who reminded me that He never intended for me to walk through life isolated. And even when He’s asked me to let go of people or places, He’s been faithful to bring new ones that I didn’t even know I needed.
This past year especially has stretched me. I’ve walked through heartbreak, anxiety, loss, and decisions that felt far bigger than I could handle. But alongside those hard moments, I’ve also walked into friendships I deeply cherish, doors that only God could open, and answered prayers that reminded me I am seen, known, and cared for.
So if you’re in a season of change, uncertainty, or starting over, I want to encourage you with the same truth I’m learning myself: you don’t have to have it all figured out. You’re not forgotten, you’re not just a “face in the crowd,” and your story matters.
And I keep holding onto this promise:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
That verse is a reminder that no matter how big the change, or how uncertain the future feels, God goes before us and walks with us every step of the way.
Hi! I’m Madison!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt called to create a space where community, encouragement, and faith could come together. Rooted & Restored was born from that desire—to bring two of my greatest passions, Jesus and mental health, into one space of hope and restoration.
A little about me: I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Louisville, majoring in Communications with minors in Sports Administration and Women in Entrepreneurship. I’m also an active member of Chi Omega, where the motto “to be womanly always and discouraged never” continues to shape my life and values. Before transferring to UofL, I spent two years at Eastern Kentucky University, where I met my lifelong sister, Demi.
Outside of academics, I’ve been grateful for opportunities to grow professionally as an intern with ESPN Louisville and the University of Louisville football program. These experiences have deepened my love for communication, storytelling, and leadership. Louisville has already stretched me in countless ways, and through it all, my faith has never been more alive.
When I’m not studying or working, you’ll usually find me exploring local coffee shops, discovering new corners of the city, or spending time with friends and family.
I’m so thankful you’re here, and I cannot wait to walk alongside you on this journey.
With love,
Madison Lyn. 🫶🏼
