In 2018 with our Coachman 30FW I purchased the EezTire Tire Pressure Monitoring system. This sat on the shelf until I decided it's time to install it on our Vacatoner 35P before the weeklong trip planned for the Labor Day weekend (and following week). The installation was quick and easy starting with the front passanger sensor (#1), making sure the display unit picked it up, and then repeating the process for the remainder of the sensors.
The initial readings were all within a few PSI of each other ranging from around 91 to 94 PSI with a temperature in the low 70's. I texted my brother-in-law who has a similar rig with the Michelin tires and he said he had his rig weighed and contacted Michelin for tire PSI recommendations. They told him for his 31,000 pound rig the fronts should be 120 PSI and the dual tire rear axle should be 110 PSI.
I remember from last year and also physics class that the tire pressure will increase as the tire warms up so I started to wonder if I need to add some air to the tires. Under inflated tires will decrease the miles per gallon and when you're getting 7 to 8 mpg you don't want to waste money on fuel.
The rig did get up to 7.7 mpg a couple of trips ago but the last two fuel mpg calculations dropped to 6.6 and 6.7. I surmised that this was due to the dash air conditioning being stuck on (another story link to be provided later) and also running with a full fresh water tank.
