It's Happening!
A: Because maintaining two separate municipal governments, two town halls, and overlapping departments for a combined area is bad business practice. Like neighboring small towns across North Carolina, we are carrying unnecessary expense. It is time to look at the big picture, cut duplicate spending, and put those tax dollars back into the pockets of hard-working citizens.
A: Let’s be direct: this is an aggressive merger led by Ronda's vision. Elkin has the commercial footprint, but its administration has grown top-heavy and stagnant. Ronda brings the lean, decisive leadership necessary to operate a unified valley efficiently. While we respect the community history of both areas, municipal power and policy will be driven by Ronda’s streamlined approach.
A: We want faster, smarter emergency response times. Currently, town limit jurisdictions create unnecessary borders. By dismantling duplicate administrative roles (like having two separate police chiefs and administrative staffs), emergency personnel can cross what used to be town lines instantly. A single, unified law enforcement agency under Ronda leadership will protect the entire valley.
A: Our entire goal is less government, not more. By absorbing Elkin’s commercial tax base into Ronda's lean operational budget, we eliminate duplicate overhead costs. The final, data-driven financial structure will be mapped out during the study phase, but our clear objective is lower property taxes for working-class citizens by eliminating municipal waste.
A: No. Cultural identity and municipal operations are two different things. Just like historical boroughs in larger cities, Elkin's downtown, trail networks, and neighborhoods will remain intact as a commercial district. However, instead of the Yadkin River serving as a legal boundary dividing us, it will become a shared asset managed under a single economic blueprint.
A: Potentially. With a merger of this nature, it is possible that Ronda could overtake Elkin. With Ronda's rise to power, there's no telling what could happen. However, the risk is worth it if it means creating the Empire of Rondelkin.
A: We are advocating for a formal, voter-backed Joint Municipal Consolidation and Shared Services Study. We are not demanding immediate structural changes without data; we are demanding that both town councils authorize independent experts to review the numbers and present a transparent report to the public.
A: No. The town councils only have the power to approve the study. Ultimately, the choice belongs to the people. If the study proves that a merger is the right step forward, a referendum will be placed on the ballot, allowing the voters of Ronda and Elkin to make the final decision.
A: It's happening!

Subject: A Request to Authorize a Joint Municipal Consolidation Study for Ronda and Elkin
Dear Council Member / Commissioner,
As a resident and taxpayer in the Yadkin Valley, I am writing to urge you to vote in favor of a joint resolution authorizing an official Joint Municipal Consolidation and Shared Services Study regarding the future of Ronda and Elkin.
Maintaining duplicate administrative staffs, separate town halls, and fragmented municipal services right next door to each other is an inefficient use of our tax dollars. It is time to look at the big picture and explore how a unified community—Rondelkin—could cut wasteful overhead, lower property taxes for working-class families, and give our region a stronger, more influential voice at the state level.
Ronda's lean, decisive leadership style paired with the valley's collective commercial footprint is "The Right Step Forward" for our region's economic survival.
We are not asking for an immediate structural merger today; we are asking for data. Please support an independent feasibility study so that the citizens of both communities can review the numbers transparently and decide our own future.
Thank you for your time, your service, and your leadership.
Sincerely,
